Aleksey Iorsh and Maria Moskvicheva

The MK action, invented by the journalist and curator Maria Moskvicheva, is a hommage to the scandalous banana on the scotch tape by the artist Maurizio Cattelan. The perishable fruit from the challenging installation “Comedian” has just been sold for $120,000. This trading episode again raised a wave of debate about the price and value of art, the boundaries permissible in its forms, as well as the hype and fake nature of the contemporary art market.

Is something similar possible with us? Is the domestic audience ready for the perception of such art? Moskovsky Komsomolets is about to test this hypothesis.

There was already a banana, and somehow it is not in Russian. Therefore, we will have "Olivier" (Russian salad), sorted into ingredients: carrots, mayonnaise, potatoes, cucumbers, peas ... further on the list. All this is glued with tape on white canvas. The works for the action “Eat Sold” were performed by the famous contemporary artist Aleksey Iorsh.

It all starts on Sunday, December 22, 2019. Canvases from Olivier will be brought to the fermentation shop at Vinzavod, where the contemporary art fair WIN WIN takes place. They will be available to the public from 15:00. The meeting with live audience will not last long. Maybe a couple of hours. Alexey Iorsh will sign his works there. And a little earlier, at 12:00, on the online site https://artsale.info/auction/ a small New Year auction ArtSale.info will open. It will be possible not only to bargain for the canvases from the “Eat Sold” series, but also to bet on a few more works. At https://artsale.info/auction/ there will be “Taki Joker” by Alexander Savko, a printed graphics by Oscar Rabin, a work by Lucy Voronova, a drawing by Tamara Zinovieva and other lots. Bidding for canvas with "Olivier" (or what remains of them after Vinzavod) will end on Monday, December 23 at 12:00. Register in advance and participate. Reserve prices will be very correct, as always.

Around Tuesday-Wednesday, Moskovsky Komsomolets will summarize and share the results of its art experiment.
