What is happening in the Russian art auction market? How are the prices now? Are they buying anything at all? And what are our thoughts on where things are going? To paraphrase the psychological model of Kübler-Ross (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance), the Russian art market goes through similar stages of grief: shock/courage — adaptation — depression — rearrangement. It is irresponsible to guess where and when things will turn out. But there is one sure recipe for maintaining meanings during a crisis — buy good art, study its context, enjoy its philosophy and look for an outlet in it, during the current difficult times.
