Announcement of the auction No. 85. Burliuk, Shulzhenko, Zelenin, Zverev, Grositsky, Isupov, Muravyov, Sudeikin, Latyshev, Medvedeva and others. August 18–24, 2021

David Burliuk is the father of Russian futurism, the artist of the Russian avant-garde. At the beginning of the century, they, together with their friend Mayakovsky, slapped the public taste: they walked around with painted faces, with a spoon in their buttonhole, and they shocked the public. There is evidence that it was Burliuk who persuaded the shy Mayakovsky not to hide his poems and concentrate on poetry. Then fate dispersed them. Burliuk emigrated from Russia and settled in America.

Announcement of the auction No. 83. Grositsky, Yakovlev, Yankilevsky, Shulzhenko, Nesterova, Zverev, Mikhnov-Voitenko and others. August 4–10, 2021

Andrey Grositsky was an artist in the orbit of unofficial art. He was called the “poet of things”. For Grositsky, not only aesthetics was important, but also the spirit of the object. The metaphysics of the object world remained his field of research throughout his life. He transformed shovels, meat grinders, rusty latches into semi-abstract portraits of things of stunning beauty and depth. Grositsky was lucky to live to be recognized. Nowadays, he can certainly be called a favorite of collectors.

Announcement of the auction No. 72. Shulzhenko, Provotorov, Batynkov, Nemukhin, Belenok, Bukh, Krasovsky, Stepanov and others. May 19–25, 2021

And again the uncompromising Shulzhenko. Comparable to his scandalously famous “Outhouse” or “Rural dump”. There seemed to be a real existential horror in the current state of the Russian countryside. If it weren't for the sneering faces and muzzles of Shulzhenko’s characters. Hard Russian absurdism is a theme for which he is respected. And a theme for which he is hated.

Announcement of the auction No. 66. Shulzhenko, Zverev, Bielutin, Rabin, Yakovlev, Yakunchikova, Burliuk, Gintovt and others. April 7–13, 2021

Shulzhenko's paintings have a phenomenal effect in practice — they completely capture the attention of any viewer, even those who are not his fans. A visitor can enter a room where ten masterpieces are hanging, but in a minute the main argument will be about Shulzhenko's work. And so it is this time. In front of us is “Three Napoleons”. A picture-parable. Three ages of a man. Three stages of destiny of the tyrant.

Announcement of the auction No. 59. Yakovlev, Shulzhenko, Nemukhin, Belenok, Zverev, Kropivnitsky, Burliuk, Issaiev and others. February 17–23, 2021

This is the astounding story of how Vladimir Yakovlev, a retoucher for a publishing house, began to draw under the impression of exhibitions of foreign artists as part of the 1957 Youth Festival. And he quickly revealed himself as a phenomenal intuitive painter. In the 1970s, his gouaches became symbols of unofficial art. They were bought by representatives of the Soviet creative and scientific intelligentsia. Against the background of the dominance of propaganda art, the purchase of Yakovlev's works was certainly a form of intellectual resistance.

Announcement of the auction No. 56. Krasnopevtsev, Nemukhin, Shulzhenko, Provotorov, Burliuk, Mikhnov-Voitenko, Rabin and others. January 27 — February 2, 2021

Before us is Krasnopevtsev. Fabulous beauty. Rare in plot, infrequent in color, large and expensive. The authenticity has already been confirmed by the main expert in Dmitry Krasnopevtsev’s art, Alexander Ushakov. He also told us the exact name of this work: “Two shells and beads”. This is the most valuable period of the master of metaphysical still life. An indisputable masterpiece.

Announcement of the auction No. 53. Shulzhenko, Yakovlev, Krasnopevtsev, Nemukhin, Plavinsky, Nesterova, Masterkova, Popkov, Kazarin and others. December 23, 2020 — January 12, 2021

Before us is a portrait of the American writer Edgar Alan Poe with the heroes of his works. The author of this picture is the great and terrible Vasily Shulzhenko. A bold, provocative artist, author of the famous canvas “The Kybo”. The heroes of his works, like those of Edgar Allan Poe, are often marginalized, drunkards and phantasmagorical characters. Sharp in his judgement, Vasily Shulzhenko, like Edgar Poe, is often attacked by critics. He is usually blamed for his dislike of the Russian people. Well... this time there is nothing to pick on. There is nothing Russian. Before us is a gorgeous, atmospheric work and a plot that is understandable all over the world, on all continents.

Announcement of the auction No. 51. Shulzhenko, Purygin, Slepyshev, Rabin, Burliuk, Voligamsi and others. December 9–15, 2020

Vasily Shulzhenko. A terrible picture. A mixture of itinerant movement with undiluted existential horror of the level of Edvard Munch and Alfred Kubin. There will certainly be something to think about and something to talk about. The picture is not only with a powerful subtext, but also a virtuoso technical performance. A real old school. Few artists paint like that today.
