Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 155. Rabin, Zverev, Kuper, Vulokh, Boruch, Voloshin, Smirnov-Rusetsky and others. January 25–31, 2023

This particular painting was among the first batch of specially selected works, which was taken out by the English art dealer Eric Estorick to arrange the first personal exhibition of Oscar Rabin in London at the Grosvenor Gallery in 1965. Andropov reported to the CPSU Central Committee about the sale of these paintings. And it was with these paintings that Rabin ran into serious trouble in the Soviet Union.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 152. Nemukhin, Belenok, Zlotnikov, Krasnopevtsev, Kasatkin, Kuper, Yakovlev, Benois and others. December 28, 2022 — January 10, 2023

Before us is one of the most significant works by Nemukhin ever sold at world auctions. And even more so in Russia. Undoubted masterpiece. Expert Valery Silaev considers it among the best of those that he had to attribute. By the way, long ago in 2006, a similar work of the same time, size and theme was sold at Sotheby's for $ 240,000 and set an auction record for the artist's work, which has not been beaten up to this day.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 147. Sitnikov, Belenok, Purygin, Krasnopevtsev, Nemukhin, Tselkov and others. November 23–29, 2022

Vasily Yaklich, or Vasya the Lanternman, as he was called by those who were on a short footing with him, is a legend of unofficial art. Seemingly a simple sitter and operator of diapositive display at the Surikov Institute, Vasily Sitnikov was a very influential figure in the world of unofficial art.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 145. Vulokh, Krasnopevtsev, Pivovarov, Vechtomov, Nemukhin, Sitnikov, Fonvizin and others. November 9–15, 2022

Vulokh of the highest order. One-of-a-kind. Exceptional quality. 1972! The author kept the intrigue by calling the painting as abstract as possible — “Details”. But connoisseurs know that Vulokh's works are almost never purely “abstract”. Streaks of lines and scratched “strokes” usually contain coded landscapes or seasons. Here, too, the viewer may discern rather a pebble beach or a field of flowers, or even an alien view.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 144. Krasnopevtsev, Rabin, Voligamsi, Nemukhin, Zverev, Belenok and others. November 2–8, 2022

Among the striking effects of Krasnopevtsev's “Wrapped Bowl” is the change in brightness and tonality depending on the angle from which you look at it. If you look straight ahead, the composition seems a little darker, but if you move half a step, the colors become brighter. There may be a scientific explanation for this: the paint lies intricately within the textural structure of the hardboard and the light is reflected differently. But the effect is truly mystical.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 142. Krasnopevtsev, Boruch, Shablavin, Silis, Vechtomov, Shulzhenko and others. October 19–25, 2022

Krasnopevtsev's amazing still lifes are not impressions, but the fruit of a complex philosophical work. The artist himself led a semi-reclusive lifestyle. He did not travel to exotic places and has never been abroad, including France, which he dreamed of. Exotic shells, shards, beautiful branches of overseas plants were brought to him by his friends. And out of the “dialogue” with these objects amazing metaphysical still lifes were born — a kind of “Krasnopevtsev's worlds”.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 141. Steinberg, Krasnopevtsev, Nemukhin, Zverev, Neizvestny, Spindler and others. October 12–18, 2022

Geometric Steinberg of the valuable Moscow pre-emigration period. 1970s. And one meter museum size. And the plot is a godsend for collectors. This is not the usual compositional “geometry”, but a suprematic concentrate. In the center — the planetary model, and in the left corner — a picture-in-picture. An experimental piece! Rarity!

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 130. Sveshnikov, Leonov, Slepyshev, Zverev, Borisov, Krasnopevtsev, Burliuk, Surovtseva and others. July 20–26, 2022

This painting of rare beauty comes from the collection of Piero Savoretti, an Italian entrepreneur and collector. The painting belongs to a particularly valuable inspired period. At the end of the 1970s Sveshnikov's palette becomes more dense and saturated. Connoisseurs note that in some works fantastic phosphorescent effect begins to appear, which will later disappear from his painting.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 101. Kalinin, Krasnopevtsev, Masterkova, Zverev, Khudyakov, Yurlov, Belenok and others. December 8–14, 2021

Kalinin is a man of the 1960s, an artist of unofficial art, close to the Lianozovo group. The artist was expelled from the Abramtsevo School for outrageous paintings presented at one of his first exhibitions. Later he was forced to work semi-underground. Kalinin was a participant of a resonant exhibition in the Beekeeping Pavilion at the VDNKh in 1975. And a year later, after the opening of the “city committee of graphics” on Malaya Gruzinskaya, he began to exhibit there as part of the “seven” with Krasnopevtsev, Nemukhin, Kharitonov and others.

Announcement of the auction ArtSale.info No. 100. Zverev, Krasnopevtsev, Vulokh, Roginsky, Neizvestny, Sveshnikov, Plavinsky, Grositsky, Savko and others. December 1–7, 2021

Why did Nikolina Gora become such a place of power in Zverev's work? Oksana Aseeva had a dacha in this picturesque village near Moscow. She was a widow of the poet Nikolay Aseev, a friend of Mayakovsky. A woman of progressive views, she was the “muse of Russian futurism”. But today we often think of her as the muse of Anatoly Zverev. Zverev loved to visit Nikolina Gora, lived in pleasant company and worked with pleasure.
